Specialty:
Manufacturing and characterization of thin films and multifunctional coating.

Research Projects:

1) Manufacturing and Characterization of Hard and Wear Resistant Coating used in Industrial Cutting Tools through Vapor Deposition Techniques.

2) Characterization of thin films with ferroelectric properties for the development of polymers, soft matter, gas-selectivity and high-precision sensors.

Main Equipment:

  • Clean Room: Area of 15 m2 pressurized with particulate matter air less than 200nm (HEPA filters). The room includes working area with exhaust hood (extraction speed 1m/s), nanopure water (including UV cleaning), Nitrogen for susbtrates cleaning and a transition area to give the user some clothe and accessories required to work inside.

  • Chemical Vapor Deposition Reactor (CVD): CVD Reactor with three model areas GSL-1500XOTF (MT), it reaches up to 140 ºC with a temperature fluctuation less than 1ºC. It includes gases controlled injection system (N2, O2, H2, and CH4) with the capacity of adding 5 species of gases to the system, plus TiCI4 evaporator to generate Ti (C, N) coating.

  • • RT66B-Radiant Tech Ferroelectric Circuit: Sawyer-Tower Circuit for electric characterization of thin films by IV, CV, PV curves, among others. Maximum voltage of 20V and currency precision in the range of pA. Integrated with Vision software for programming specific sequences and tasks.
