Civil Industrial Engineer with a major in Mechanics Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (1994). Since 1994 he works as a faculty member at the Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering Department at this same University.

He gives lectures on Materials Science, Mechanical Behaviour of Materials and Modern Manufacturing Methods.

He holds a Master in Science in the field of Laser Materials Processing (University of Liverpool, United Kingdom) and a Master in Science in Materials (University of Texas, United States). Moreover, he obtained the European Laser Engineer postitle degree at Wien Technical University, Austria.

He pursued his doctorate in the Rapid Prototyping Group at University of Texas at Austin, in laser coating of C-C compounds with ceramics, superficial laser polishing and laser induced epitaxial growth of super alloys from single crystal substrates.

Since 2003 he works as the Director of the Metallurgy Laboratory at School of Engineering. He is also the Founder of the Laser Industrial Applications Laboratory (LATIL UC) of Universidad Católica. Through DICTUC S.A. he has provided consultacy regarding fault analysis of in-service mechanical components, metallurgical characterization of alloys. In 2009 he created and began managing the 3D Printing Service of Osseous Biomodelling for Complex Surgeries Programming (AREA Print3D – DICTUC SA), with more than 160 cases treated all over the country.

He has obtained and managed projects from Fundación Andes, FONDEF and Fondecyt.
