Graduated in Physics at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (1980). He received his Doctor's degree in Physics (Ph. D.) from Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London (1985).

He currently works as a Professor at Physics Institute of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Dr. Favre does research on Experimetal Plasma Physics. His research areas include the study and characterization of dense transcient plasmas and their applications in Material Sciences and Optics. Today, he focuses his activity on both the study of laser pulsed-generated plasmas dynamics and the use of these plasmas for the deposition of nanostructured thin films.

Interest Areas

  • Study of properties of dense transcient plasmas, characterization of radiation emission sources in the spectrum of soft x rays and far UV based on plasmas, deposition of thin films and coatings on surfaces using laser-generated plasma and radiofrequency plasma, production of nanoparticles using plasma techniques, Laboratory Astrophysics, development and applications of pulsed electric power.
