Graduate in Physics at Universidad de Oriente, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba (1994). He received his Doctor's degree in Physics from Universidad Federal de Pernambuco, Brazil (2006). He is currently working as an Associate Professor at Institute of Physics of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

His researches are focused on the creation, handling and detection of spin currents in magnetic structures made of magnetic and non magnetic thin films multilayers. Some of the phenomena he did research about have been discovered in the last decade as Spin Hall Effect (2005) and Seebeck Effect in ferromagnetic insulators (2008). He is also interested in the study of magnetic interactions and the induction of anistropies in simple films and magnetic multilayers.
