The Kac-Moody Symmetries of Supergravity

We establish a correspondence among the possible, on side, physical degrees of freedon, gaugings and deformations of maximal supergravity, and on the other side certain generators of the associated very extended Kac-Moody algebras. A short introduction to these infinite dimensional Kac-Moody algebras and some concepts on supergravity will be given.
