Professor Amador M. Guzmán is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He earned his Mechanical Engineer degree from Universidad de Santiago de Chile and his Ph.D. (1995) from Carnegie Mellon University. Before coming to Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Professor Guzmán was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the same University and the Director of the “Talleres de Articulación en Nanotecnología”, an initiative funded by the chilean government. He is currently working as an Associate Professor at Faculty of Engineering of Pontifia Universidad Católica de Chile.
His research interests are in the field of solar energy conversion to thermal and electric energy by thermoelectric, thermophotovoltaic and hybrid systems. He also works in areas of micro and nanofluidics for life sciences and biomedical applications, artificial organs and biomedical engineering, and heat transfer and fluid mechanics in microscale technologies.
